Christianity - What is It?
Some people think Christianity is based on religious affiliation or customs, family birth or tradition, or even nationality. Others feel that they are a Christian if their parents took them to church. Many people believe that they will go to heaven if they are a good person and try to follow the "Golden Rule".
The truth is, you can be sure you are a Christian if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. The Bible says this: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 You receive God's gift of salvation because of your faith in Jesus Christ, by the grace of God.
You may not feel any different, but the fact is that you receive God's salvation the moment you accept Jesus. Feelings don't determine your salvation; your faith in Jesus does. The Bible says this: "To all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12
If you're not sure whether or not you can believe, God assures us that He gives each one of us a measure of faith – and that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. "How can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?" Romans 10:14
God wants you to know Him – He longs for you to come to Him. He wants you to know all that He has given you. Start right here by hearing the Gospel, or "Good News", for yourself. Believing God
